Two women were seen fighting in JD Sports in front of shocked onlookers
Two male companions, believed to be their boyfriends, tried to pull the girls apart as they tussled in the shop for nearly five minutes.
Appalling footage showed shoppers watching in disbelief as the women fell into shop displays, knocking clothing and other stock to the floor as they grappled.
The brawl only ended when one girl dropped her purse and paused to retrieve it, allowing the man with a grip on the other girl to drag her away.
As she was led away, the girl in a black top shouted: “I’m going to kill her, the little slag.’
Her white-topped rival then said: “Slag? Who started that?”
The video of the fight was posted online where it has been viewed more than 322,000 times.
The woman who filmed the fight, who did not wish to be identified, said: “It’s not something you expect to see in the middle of the afternoon during the week – a bit of casual shopping and a fight breaks out.
“Everyone was shocked. I don’t think anyone knew what to do about it.
“It was more a shock, like I couldn’t believe this was actually happening in Burnley town centre in the middle of the afternoon. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.
“One of the girls had said ‘what the f*** are you looking at’. That’s how it started.
“The other girl returned with ‘nothing, what’s your f***ing problem’. There was a lot of foul language being used.
“I didn’t actually see who threw the first hit but it started with a smack to the face which resulted in a bit of kicking and hair grabbing.
“They started throwing each other into the clothing rails. They were ramming each other into them as they were scuffling around.
“Clothes were falling off, bags were falling on to the floor… they were being trampled.
“Obviously the boyfriends were trying to stop it. A female member of staff came out and actually got one of the girls in a headlock.
“A male manager grabbed one of the women from around the waist to pull her away from the other one.
“You could see he was trying quite hard because he was very red in the face.
“The manager was quite tall. He seemed to have a decent build to him and he couldn’t separate them so I had no chance.
“I am 5’1. If a manager at about 6’0 couldn’t do it then there was no way I could. They wouldn’t stop even with the two boyfriends and a member of staff trying to separate them.
“It was just going for ages.”
The girl in the black T-shirt left the store with her male companion shortly after he forced her away, leaving her rival to face the consequences with the shop manager.
The customer, who filmed the fight, said: “The store was quite a mess afterwards.
